Generally, two objects attract each other only if there is an electric or magnetic field between them. So how are we stuck to the earth without any electric or magnetic field?
This question may have appeared to many people. The reason for this is gravity. But gravity is not a force.
Many scholars, in many countries, gave many explanations about gravity. But none of them are acceptable.
Then Newton himself gave a clear explanation of how gravity works. It is not true that he discovered gravity by dropping an apple on his head. He just noticed the apple falling down. His thinking was different.
Why is the moon in the sky not attracted to the earth while an apple from the tree is attracted to the earth? He thought.
Starting with this thinking, he worked for years and came up with a clear explanation of gravity.
Gravity – Explanation:
According to Newton, when two objects of a given mass are near to each other, the object with greater mass will attract the object with less mass.
But as the distance between them increases, the gravitational force there starts to decrease.
The distance between Earth and Apple is very short. So it is attracted by the earth. But the distance between earth and moon is very much. So the moon is not pulled by the earth. But Earth's gravitational pull is definitely acting on the Moon.
This gravitational force can be written in equation form as below.
But Newton could not give an explanation of how this gravitational force is formed.
To be this way, gravity is a lie, said Einstein.
"Gravity" a lie:
Generally, when we are lying on the floor, or sitting, we can feel a certain force being exerted on us. That is our weight.
Now imagine you are falling from the floor of your house. While falling like that, you cannot feel your weight. Also, another object that falls with you will, in your view, appear to be floating along with you. Only when you reach the ground, you can feel the earth's gravity.
The same phenomenon occurs in space. Even there you cannot feel your weight. And just like here, objects around you will float there too. In both these places, you cannot feel gravity.
Now, imagine you are speeding up in an elevator. As you go up that fast, you can feel yourself being pressed against the floor of the elevator. This is how gravity works.
We are stuck to the Earth because the Earth is rotating itself in a certain direction and moving faster. Just as the particles in the air stick to the ball when we throw it in the air. This is a opposite force caused by the motion of the earth. This is what we call gravity.
Only when this gravitational force acts on you, you can feel your weight. In space, where there is no gravity, so you cannot feel weight.
Also, Einstein related it to spacetime fabric. That is, when an object bends the fabric of spacetime, its gravity increases.
Newton was right that an object with more mass attracts an object with less mass. For that, two iron balls of different mass placed near to each other in space will not attract each other. For such attraction, a more massive object would have to bend the spacetime curve. An object with a small mass cannot bend this time curve. This is only possible with Earth-like, high-mass objects.
Thus, gravity is not a real force. It is not created by any electric or magnetic field. As a planet's mass and, rotational speed increases, its gravitational force also increases.
To find the gravitational force of a planet, we can use the equation below.
Here "g" stands for the magnitude of the gravitational pull of a planet. "V" is the planet's escape velocity. That is, the velocity required to escape from the planet's gravitational pull. R is the radius of the planet.
